# Lamb of God
A “lamb” is a young sheep. Sheep are four-legged animals with thick, woolly hair. God told the Israelites to sacrifice physically perfect sheep and lambs to God.
The words “Lamb of God” are used to talk about Jesus (see: John 1:29, 36; see also Revelation 5:6-13). Jesus was the sacrifice for people’s sins (see: 2 Corinthians 5:21; 1 Peter 1:19). He was a perfect sacrifice because he was completely without sin (see: Matthew 5:17; Galatians 4:4; Hebrews 4:15; 1 Peter 2:22).

The Bible also talks about the “wedding feast of the Lamb” (see: Revelation 19:6-9). This is a way of talking about Christians celebrating and living with Jesus forever. This will happen after Jesus defeats Satan (see: Revelation 21:1-4; 22:1-5).
