# Foreknow (Foreknowledge)

The words “foreknow” and “foreknowledge” are used to talk about someone knowing that something will happen before it happens. In the Bible, these words are used to talk about God knowing the things that will happen in the future.

God knows everything that happens in the past, present, and future. Before Jesus came to earth, God knew the things Jesus Christ would do. He knew the things that would happen to Jesus on earth (see: Acts 2:22-24; 1 Peter 1:20). God knows the people he will save before they are born (see: Romans 8:29; 1 Peter 1:2; see also: Jeremiah 1:5). God knew that the nation of Israel would be his own special people (see: Romans 11:2).
