# Generation

The word “generation” is used to talk about a group of people who were all born around the same time period. Parents and their children were not born around the same time period, so they are from two different generations.

The word “generation” is also used to talk about a period of time. In the Bible, a generation was a period of about 40 years.

In the Bible, the word “generation” is also used to talk about a group of people who are the same in some way (see: Matthew 12:39; Acts 2:40; Philippians 2:15).
