# Son of Man
In the Bible, “son of man” can be a way of talking about a man or talking to a man. God called Ezekiel “son of man” throughout the Old Testament book of Ezekiel. For example, he said, “You, son of man, must prophesy” (Ezekiel 6:2; 11:4).
The words “sons of man” and “sons of mankind” are also used to talk about humans (Proverbs 8:4; Daniel 10:16).
Jesus used the title “Son of Man” to talk about himself. He often used these words instead of saying “I” or “me.” The prophet Daniel wrote about seeing a vision of a “son of man” coming with the clouds. Daniel was writing about the coming of the messiah (Daniel 7:13-14). Jesus also said that he, the Son of Man, will be coming back to earth someday on the clouds (Mark 14:62; Revelation 1:7). Jesus used the words “Son of Man” to tell people that he was the messiah (Acts 7:55-56; Revelation 1:13; 14:14-16).
