# silver # ## Definition: ## Silver is a shiny, gray precious metal used to make coins, jewelry, containers, and ornaments. * The containers would include silver cups and bowls, among other things used for cooking, eating, or serving. * Silver and gold were used in the building of the tabernacle and the temple.The temple in Jerusalem had containers made of silver. * In Bible times, silver coins and silver weights called shekels were used. * Joseph's brothers sold him as a slave for twenty shekels of silver. * Judas was paid thirty silver coins for betraying Jesus.
