Its location is in the region of the modern day country of Iraq. * In the Old Testament, this region was called "Aram Naharaim." * The word "Mesopotamia" means "between rivers." The phrase "Aram Naharaim" means "Aram of two rivers." * Abraham lived in the Mesopotamian cities of Ur and Haran before moving on to the land of Canaan. * Babylon was another important city in Mesopotamia. * The region called "Chaldea" was also part of Mesopotamia.
