# Amorite, Amorites ## Facts: The Amorites were a powerful group of people who were descended from Noah's grandson Canaan. * Their name means "high one," which may refer to the mountainous regions where they lived or to the fact that they were known to be very tall. * The Amorites lived in regions on both sides of the Jordan River.
