# bridegroom ## Definition: In a marriage ceremony, the bridegroom is the man who will marry the bride. * In the Jewish culture during Bible times, the ceremony was centered around the bridegroom coming to get his bride. * In the Bible, Jesus is figuratively called the "Bridegroom" who will someday come for his "Bride," the Church. * Jesus compared his disciples to the friends of the bridegroom who celebrate while the bridegroom is with them, but who will be sad when he is gone.
