# Joseph (Old Testament) ## Facts: In the Old Testament, Joseph was the eleventh son of Jacob and the first son of his mother Rachel. * Joseph was his father's favorite son. * His brothers were jealous of him and sold him into slavery. * While in Egypt, Joseph was falsely accused and put into prison. * In spite of his difficulties, Joseph remained faithful to God. * God brought him to the second highest place of power in Egypt and used him to save people in a time when there was little food. The people of Egypt, as well as his own family, were kept from starving.
