Absalom, Amnon, and Tamar had all been born before the events in [1 Samuel 11-12](../11/01.md). It was after those events that Amnon fell in love with Tamar.

The writer is introducing the people that the following account is about. Absalom ([1 Samuel 3:2](../03/02.md)) is introduced first because the larger account, through 2 Samuel 19, is about him. Tamar and Amnon ([1 Samuel 3:2](../03/02.md)) are not as important to the larger account and so are introduced after Absalom. (See: [[rc://en/ta/man/jit/writing-intro]])
