# Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is a person of the trinity. Therefore, the Holy Spirit is God. The Holy Spirit has the same power that God the Father and God the Son have. The Holy Spirit has always existed with God the Father and God the Son. God the Father sent God the Holy Spirit to Christians after Jesus returned to heaven. God the Father sent God the Holy Spirit to help Christians know how to do the things that honor God. He also gives them peace and comfort when they are suffering.

The Holy Spirit is called “the Spirit,” “Spirit of God,” “Spirit of Yahweh,” or “God’s Spirit.” The Spirit of God created the world (see: Genesis 1:2). He helped people do the things that honored God (see: Exodus 31:3; Numbers 11:17; Judges 3:10; 1 Samuel 10:6). He also gave the prophets the message they needed to speak to the people (see: 2 Samuel 23:2; 2 Chronicles 24:20; Nehemiah 9:30; Ezekiel 2:1-2; 2 Peter 1:21).

The things Jesus did and the Holy Spirit did are connected. The Holy Spirit filled Jesus (see: Matthew 12:18; Luke 4:18). When this happened, it fulfilled prophecy (see: Isaiah 42:1-4).
