Mount Sinai was a mountain. Some scholars think Mount Sinai was located in the southern part of what is now called the Sinai Peninsula. Some scholars think Mount Sinai was located in Saudi Arabia. Mount Sinai was also known as “Mount Horeb.” Mount Sinai was part of a large, rocky desert. The Israelites came to Mount Sinai as they traveled from Egypt to the Promised Land (see: Exodus 19:1-2).
