# bear # ## Definition: ## A bear is a large, four-legged furry animal with dark brown or black hair, with sharp teeth and claws. Bears were common in Israel during Bible times. * These animals live in forests and mountain areas; they eat fish, insects, and plants. * In the Old Testament, the bear is used as a symbol of strength. * While tending sheep, the shepherd David fought a bear and defeated it. * Two bears came out of the forest and attacked a group of youths who had mocked the prophet Elisha.
