# Jacob, Israel
## Facts
Jacob was the second of the twin sons that were born to Isaac and Rebekah. The first twin born was Esau.
* Jacob's name means "deceiver" or "trickster."
* Jacob was clever and deceptive. He found ways to take both the firstborn inheritance rights and the blessing from his older brother, Esau.
* Esau was angry and planned to kill him, so Jacob left his homeland. But he later returned and lived peacefully with his brother.
* God changes Jacob's name to Israel, which means, "He struggles with God."
* God kept his covenant to Abraham and his descendants through Abraham's son, Isaac, and Isaac's son, Jacob.
* Jacob had twelve sons. Their descendants became the twelve tribes of Israel.
