# Hananiah ## Facts: Hananiah was the name of several different men in the Old Testament. * One Hananiah was an Israelite captive in Babylon whose name was changed to “Shadrach.” * He was given a position as a royal servant due to his excellent character and abilities. * Once Hanahiah (Shadrach) and two other Israelite young men were thrown into a fire in a furnace because they refused to worship the Babylonian king. God showed his power by protecting them from being harmed. * Another man named Hananiah was listed as a descendant of King Solomon. * A different Hananiah was a false prophet during the time of the prophet Jeremiah. * One man named Hananiah was a priest who helped lead a celebration during the time of Nehemiah.
