# lamb, Lamb of God
## Definition
A lamb is the young of a sheep. A sheep is a four-legged animal with thick, woolly hair.
* Sheep are raised for their wool or to be eaten.
* These animals are defenseless and are easily led astray. God compares human beings to sheep.
* God instructed his people to sacrifice physically perfect sheep and lambs to him.
* Jesus is called the "Lamb of God" who was sacrificed to pay for people's sins. He was a perfect, unblemished sacrifice because he was completely without sin.
