Bir gün xalqın suyu qurtardı. Allah Musaya dedi: "Bu qayaya de ki, sənə su versin və qayadan su axacaq". Lakin Musa bütün xalqın qarşısında Allaha itaətsizlik etdi. O, qayaya su ver demədi, bunun əvəzinə əsası ilə iki dəfə qayaya vurdu. Qayadan su axdı və hamı içdi, lakin Allah Musaya qəzəbləndi və dedi: "Sən bu cür hərəkət etdiyinə görə, Vəd edilmiş Torpağa girməyəcəksən!"
