# James (brother of Jesus) # ## Facts: ## James was a son of Mary and Joseph. He was one of Jesus' younger half-brothers. * Jesus' other half-brothers were named Joseph, Judas, and Simon. * During Jesus' lifetime, James and his brothers did not believe that Jesus was the Messiah. * Later, after Jesus was raised from the dead, James believed in him and became a leader of the church in Jerusalem. * The New Testament book of James is a letter that James wrote to Christians who had fled to other countries to escape persecution.
